Scouting is a movement, not a static organisation
B.P. — The Scouter, July 1921
We're currently living through changes to the world that nobody could have imagined in 1907. As a movement we can use it to help us spend longer doing the types of Scouting that we want to do; and less of the admin and time consuming bits.
Your District Account gives you workplace-level access to Gemini – Google's AI.
Gemini using your District Account is safer for use than most free AI services (and many paid ones). At the bottom of every chat you will see the disclaimer:
Your East London Scouts chats aren't used to improve our models.
This is because we use the same types of accounts as schools / businesses and have this turned off at a District Level. Double check for the East London Scouts logo when using Gemini to make sure that you don't accidentally share data outside of our systems or accidentally help train future AI responses using our Young People's data.
Custom AI chat bots that can be pre-trained with all the information they need to do a specific job:
Feed them years of letters that have been sent home and they can draft this year's information for parents about attending an annual event.
Load them with your old camp planning, and it can spit out the right kit list based on the activities you're doing, where you're camping and the time of year.
If you create your own, then let us know and we'll add it to our showcase.
All of our Gems can be accessed through your District Account.
Go to Google Drive,
Click on "Shared Drives" from the left-hand menu
Select the Google Gemini folder from the list of Shared Drives that have been shared with you.
From here you'll find the Gems that members of the DIstrict have produced to help with their Scouting.

This Gem knows our brand guidelines like the back of its hands.
Ask it to review posters, leaflets, group websites...
for suggestions on what could make it really engage with the public.
Ask for suggestions on how to communicate with young people, parents, or even other people.
Ask it to write or draw something completely from scratch...
"Helping you through the entire volunteer recruitment journey:
from wanting some help and how to advertise,
through to replying to leads and how to engage them.
